It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with my pup, Cash. He’s with me in the office all day so I spend a lot of time with him. Cash, a 3 year-old pitbull, needs a lot of exercise to satisfy his energetic personality, which I balance with a healthy diet. When he gets a treat, it’s something I’ve made myself so I can monitor what he eats. These 3-ingredient dog treats are my healthy go-to treat for Cash. I like to make these in bulk, as they can sit in a sealed container for several weeks. (full recipe below)

2 cups grated raw carrots
4 cups whole wheat flour, plus additional 1/2 cup for rolling dough
12 ounces baby food (I used beechnut classics sweet potato & chicken)

Grate 2 cups of raw carrots. In large mixing bowl, combine grated carrots, whole wheat flour and baby food. Once combined, use hands to roll dough into several fist-sized balls. Sprinkle dough with additional flour if sticky. Roll out each ball of dough with rolling pin and use desired cookie cutters for shapes. For crispier treats, roll dough thinner.

Cover baking tray with parchment paper. Lay out raw treats on parchment paper. These will not expand in the oven, so you can lay them closely to one another. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 – 14 minutes, depending on size of cookie cutters used.

Baked treats can be stored in a sealed container or ziplock bag for several weeks in a cool area.
